What are the common faults of slitting machines?

I. Tool-related faults
1. Tool wear
Performance: The edge of the material after slitting has burrs, unevenness or continuous slitting.
Cause: Long-term use or slitting of materials with higher hardness causes the tool edge to become blunt.
2. Tool chipping
Performance: When slitting the material, it suddenly becomes impossible to cut partially, and there are obvious tool notch marks on the surface of the material.
Cause: It may be that foreign matter (such as impurities, metal particles in the material, etc.) is encountered during the slitting process, or the tool is improperly installed or the quality of the tool itself is problematic.
II. Tension system failure
1. Unstable tension
Performance: The tightness is inconsistent when winding the material, and the material is wrinkled or stretched.
Cause: The sensor of the tension control system fails, the tension adjustment device is damaged, or the parameters are improperly set; it may also be caused by uneven thickness and material of the material itself.
2. Too much or too little tension
Performance: When the tension is too high, the material may be broken; when the tension is too low, the winding material is loose.
Cause: Failure of the tension controller, failure of the transmission components (such as motors, belts, chains, etc.) affect the transmission of tension.
3. Mechanical transmission failure
1. Wear of transmission parts
Performance: Abnormal noise (such as buzzing, clicking, etc.) occurs during the operation of the equipment, and the slitting speed is unstable.
Cause: The transmission parts (such as gears, chains, belts, etc.) wear after long-term use, and the gap increases; or insufficient lubrication causes aggravated wear.
2. Loose transmission parts
Performance: The equipment vibrates greatly during operation, and the slitting accuracy is reduced.
Cause: The screws, nuts and other fasteners connecting the transmission parts are loose and not tightened in time.
4. Electrical system failure
1. Control system failure
Performance: The equipment cannot start or stop normally, or the parameters suddenly change during operation.
Cause: The hardware (such as PLC, touch screen, etc.) of the control system is damaged, the software fails (such as program disorder); it may also be affected by external electromagnetic interference.
2. Motor failure
Performance: The motor does not rotate, the speed is abnormal, or the temperature is too high (over 80-90℃).
Cause: The motor winding is burned, the bearing is damaged, and the phase is missing.
